ABA Supports the Denver "Women on Boards" Event
Wed, 11/04/2009 - 00:00 — bobarciniagaAdvisory Board Architects (ABA) is pleased to be supporting the 2009 "Women on Boards" event in Denver through the participation of two executive ABA Associates. Lynn Dawson, Executive Vice President for ABA, will serve as a member of this year's distinguished panel and Christie Doherty, Vice President of Business Development for ABA, will serve as the Panel's Facilitator. ABA encourages women business leaders to attend this event to learn about how they can effectively evaluate board opportunities, actively participate as directors and how to make an impact through board leadership from a woman's perspective.
"I have attended this event in the past two years, as women on boards is an important issue that needs consideration from a diversity prospective and to increase the impact a board has on strategy and long-term corporate leadership," said Bob Arciniaga, managing partner and founder of Advisory Board Architects. "The "˜Women on Boards' forum offers a unique opportunity for a very valuable discussion and we encourage all of our advisors who are interested in board leadership and service to attend this very special event."
Currently women only represent about 15.2% of Fortune 500 company board membership. This event is designed to educate and prepare its attendees for board service. Topics will include: being an effective board member, how to position yourself to get on a board, and how to transition from non-profit boards to for profit boards.
The event will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Downtown Denver on November 9th 2009 starting at 3:00PM.
